i think this is a really clever idea that i am surprised noone has come up
with before. your radio 4 interview this morning really caught my attention
by the simplicity and clarity behind what a royal college could
achieve. i am not in the education sector but like many people
have experienced some truly inspiring teaching that remains
with you forever. this idea has the potential of uniting the education sector
around a common cause for the first time, the cause being the education of the next generation. i wish you every success.

Would really like to talk to you about the royal college of teaching we have been working since 1974 to counter homophobia and prejudice in schools and it is becoming increasingly difficult as there has never been compulsory training on equality and diversity for teachers unlike staff in the criminal justice department

Charlotte, we have evidence which leads us to believe Bristol City Council does not act with total transparency and allows the NHS to avoid public accountability in relation to matters brought before its Health Scrutiny Committee.

http://swwhag.wordpress.com/2012/11/09/bristol-city-council-and-recording-public-business/

http://swwhag.wordpress.com/2012/12/13/bristol-city-hall-12th-december-2012/

Robert Francis remarked on the effectiveness of Health Scrutiny Committees in the Mid Staffs report - the section on Public and Patient involvement and Scrutiny page 481 onwards. His comments are also relevant to to Bristol (and South Gloucestershire).

Here we also have an allegation that Bristol Local Involvement Network (LINk), whose activities are paid for by the public, was offered "inducements" to suppress public dissent about patient safety. Bristol City Council has refused to investigate the allegation as has the Care Forum, the organisation which hosted the LINk and has now been awarded the contract to manage local Healthwatch by Bristol, Somerset and South Gloucestershire Councils.

NHS lack of accountability will continue to thrives as long as Councils fail to discharge their statutory responsibility for public scrutiny of the NHS in a transparent and effective manner.

This is a dangerous situation, especially given that on Wirral, the Council were not just concealing malpractice, immoral behaviour, abuse and wrongdoing. The council had also accredited a Social Services Services provider with links to serious organised crime, When public bodies have a tried and tested means, which uses the law to conceal illegal activity, they feel protected and emboldened in covering it all up.

Here's a link to the original survey:

I lived in Northern Ireland during the troubles, wore the uniform when I had to. Very difficult times, taught me a lot about people and politicians. Margaret Thatcher was lauded, then later hated, mainly hated not for what she as a leader but for her conviction and loyalties. Later leaders with decided that having no convictions or loyalties was the way to run a country. I remember the last time people felt proud to be British, when being British meant something to them and that was under Margaret Thatcher. Now we despise our leaders whose convictions and loyalties are only to themselves and money which explains why the electorate can barely be able to find the motivation every 5 years to vote for them.

Hi Konstantin, the issue is ongoing. We will find out whether the land is on the Council's consultation document in January. Until that point, it is a question of making the case as strongly as possible against designating this land for development. The best way is to write to the council, sign the petition, and if you have any evidence or historical photos showing the land years back, demonstrating the instability of the tip-land, let us know. Thanks for your interest. Best, Charlotte
