Charlotte Leslie MP takes part in charity abseil for St. Peter’s hospice

abseil1On Sunday Charlotte joined a team taking part in an mass abseil to raise money for Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice.

The Abseil Challenge saw participants abseil 185ft down the Premier Inn building in the city centre to raise money for the Brentry-based charity which cares for local adults with incurable illnesses.

Last year the hospice cared for 2,000 patients in the region and supported over 6,000 family members including children.

Charlotte has already raised almost £2000 pounds for the charity through running the Bristol Half Marathon and other races and is hoping to raise yet more with donations from the Abseil Challenge.

“I may not be great with heights, but I am as delighted as I am terrified to be supporting St. Peter’s Hospice in this way.

“The work they do with individuals and their families is something the entire city can be proud of, and as a constituency mp, I come across so many people whose lives have been touched by the work of St. Peters. This is Big Society writ large and I aim to do all I can to help.

The hospice very much relies on fundraising, and can only function thanks to an army of dedicated volunteers so please consider giving up your Monday morning cappuccino or that extra pint and instead give what it would cost to a really worthy cause”.
